Insurance Tip for the Week: Know about the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act or EMTALA

There is a federal law that prohibits hospitals from not accepting someone in need of emergency services just because they don’t have insurance. The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, or EMTALA, provides protection for those that do not have insurance and are in need of hospital emergency services.
